If you are a Direct Seller (in Direct Sales) I am sure at some point or another you have been tempted to go out in your neighborhood to do some door-to-door marketing, if you have not already done so. With that said, door-to-door marketing can be dangerous and there are a few dangers you need to know about before you head out into your neighborhood.
I first want to state that I started in Direct Sales way back in 1984 so I have heard many horror stories when it comes to door-to-door marketing. For the most part, women (or men for that matter) have practiced door-to-door marketing and have never encountered a problem. However, there have been cases where folks have been:
* Raped
* Mugged and/or Attacked
* Bitten by Vicious Pets
* Chased Off of a Person?s Property with Baseball Bats
* Spit at and had Doors Slammed in Their Faces
* etc, etc, etc.
Let?s face it?there are dangers out there and we all need to be aware of them.
If you are going to go out and do any type of door-to-door marketing I would like to suggest that you use a buddy system. Take another consultant along with you, a friend, a family member or even a spouse. You should only do this type of marketing during the daytime hours when you can fully see everyone and everything around you.
Thirty years ago it was safer for women and men to go out there and do door-to-door marketing but in today?s sad world?you have to be cautious and I feel it is better to be safe than sorry.
Have any of you ever had any negative or bad experiences that you want to share with my readers? Do you have any safety tips on door-to-door marketing that you would like to share with all of us? If so, leave me a comment or feel free to email me (via my contact info on my site) and I will gladly post them here to share with other Direct Sales consultants.
Happy and Safe Marketing!
