Posthumous Memorabilia Brings in the Big Bucks | TheBitBot.Com ...

Unfortunately, as with many other creative fields, it can seem that for musicians, their appeal can only increase once they are no longer with us.

Just as Michael Jackson?s possessions increased greatly in value following his death ? one of his infamous gloves, worn during the Victory Tour, sold for a whopping $160,000 a year after his death, more than double of what another sold for just a few months after ? so too have many items of the late Whitney Houston?s clothing sold for thousands at an auction in the US.

Darren Julien, of Julien?s Auctions based in LA, said that the interest in Whitney Houston memorabilia had greatly increased since her death in February this year, as is the case with Michael Jackson. At any one time, you will be able to find hundreds, if not thousands, of items of Michael Jackson music memorabilia on the market, and that?s not even considering those that cannot yet be put up for sale because of the complicated legacy he has left behind.

Of course, not all collectable memorabilia was once owned by the artist in question. Many fans are happy to collect items associated with their idol, such as the inspired Thriller Faithful Glove Clutch Handbag designed by Alexander McQueen.

However, for something a little less bizarre than a sequinned fingerless glove dangling from your handbag, framed memorabilia is a popular choice for many, such as framed gold or platinum discs and records or an image of your own face in the place of your favourite artist?s, both offered by Memorabilia4Music.
